The Homeland Axis
of Evil
By Reverend Bill Banuchi
We’ve heard President
Bush go out on a limb in referring to an “Axis of Evil” when talking about
perpetrators of terrorism. Well, I’ve
come to believe that we have an axis of evil right here within our own borders. There is an alliance of evil organizations,
allegiances and people who, because of their radical ideologies, are busy
working to destroy American culture. We
see this most clearly in three areas
1. Those who would destroy innocent young life
in the womb;
2. Those who would destroy traditional family;
3. Those who would destroy the Church, or at least exile it to obscurity so that its effects on American society would be neutralized.
Our war against
terrorism must address these domestic threats, or these homeland terrorists
will bring down our society more surely than any Osama Bin Laden could ever
have dreamed.
Those who
would destroy innocent young life in the womb,
In the past
thirty years over 40 million babies have been tortured and murdered in the womb
before they ever had a chance to enjoy the first of their unalienable rights
--the right to life.
Even if there
was a Constitutional right to choose, somehow derived from the Declaration’s
right to the pursuit of happiness, it must always step aside for the prior
“right to life.” A baby’s life is always more important than anyone’s right to
choose. Furthermore, you cannot justify taking a baby’s life by calling it a
“fetus” just to pursue happiness. Hitler called murdered Jews “schmattes,”
German for “rags” so that workers would not feel guilty disposing of their
bodies. That did not make the Jewish people any less human. That didn’t make
his crime any less evil. We must
continue our fight for the rights of the little ones, or we will be like those
who looked the other way when the trains passed through their towns filled with
human beings on their way to the gas chambers.
God will hold us accountable. We must not stoop to terror tactics, but
we must fight on every front to change the hearts and minds of a quickly
corrupting generation so that millions of American babies, yet unborn, will
enjoy their most basic and unalienable right
--the right to life.
The traditional
family has been falling apart over the past four decades, and we see the result
in rising crime, poverty, fear and pessimism. Marriage, the basic building
block of any civil society is being threatened by no-fault divorce laws, a
welfare and government system that discourages marriage, social acceptance of
cohabitation, and radical feminist and homosexual agendas driven by a spirit of
rebellion and radical individualism.
The family is being assaulted on multiple fronts. Attackers finding
access through government schools and state universities are shaking our
security and stability.
The only
effective defense will require responsible men to assume, once again, their
roles as leaders in their homes, not as tyrants, but as men who will serve the
needs of their families with tenderness, truth and deliberateness. The family
is vulnerable to this axis of evil only because men have abdicated their roles
of responsibility to anyone who will take it. Well, it has been taken. Now we
must take it back by exercising responsible, loving leadership.
Those who
would destroy the Church, or at least exile it to obscurity so that it would be
of no effect in our society.
These
terrorists see the Church as an obstacle to the establishment of their new
kingdom where their “progressive” sense of morality would prevail. The Church has always been a restraint
against evil. Notwithstanding corruption within the institution, the Church has
been, throughout the ages, a source of peace, prosperity and liberty in the
world. To those who have been taught by anti-God leaders that the church is the
source of oppression, let me remind them that it was the Church that inspired
movements for women’s voting rights, the abolitionist movement and the civil
rights movement. All one has to do is to look around the world. Where the
Church has been established there is order. Where it is not established there
is deprivation and chaos.
Church
leaders must lead the way for Christians to, once again, engage the culture.
Christians are called to be the “light of the world” and the “salt of the
earth,” yet too many have been content to be the salt in the Church, and the
light in their prayer closets. The fault lies in the leadership. Though there
are some courageous, committed leaders in the Church, the truth is that the
American church is led by too many men and women who role-play. They may
profess a commitment to Christ, but it’s plain by their actions that they are
not committed to His cause.
Our
culture is degenerating because the only restraining force available refuses to
engage. Repentance must begin in the Church. Then we must fight for our
families, our communities and our nation.
In
summary, we need to come to terms with the reality that not all terrorists are
across the sea. Many of them are, and
have been, sleeper agents right here working in our schools, in our media
outlets, and in our government agencies to destroy the lives and institutions
that have made us the great nation that we are. If they succeed the greatness
of America will be tossed on the ash heap of history.
We
need to be thoroughly engaged in the warfare for our nation. We must expose and
defeat domestic terrorism wherever it is found. We must be committed to this
cause for the benefit of the generations to follow, that the liberty and
justice that we have enjoyed might be passed on to those who follow.
